Extended Essay Adventure Game (Virtual Edition)

Virtual Game Board
Process Cards Randomizer
Number of Players:  2 - 8 players

Game Object:  Players roll the die to advance across the board from the green flag to the checkered flag. Along the way, players will encounter “Oh no!!!” blocks that detail real-life problems that students face and will set them back a certain number of blocks.

Game Contents:
  • Virtual game board
  • 8 pawns
  • 1 six-sided die
  • 2 “Help” buttons
  • Process Cards Randomizer

Virtual Facilitation:  A game facilitator will display the game board for players, move pieces, and click buttons as needed.

Game Play:
  • The die is rolled for each player to determine game play order. The largest quantity number goes first and then players proceed in descending quantity order.
  • The die is rolled for each player and pawns are moved to the block that corresponds to the number rolled.
  • If a player passes a dark blue block, they must use the Process Cards Randomizer to "draw" the card indicated on the block (Topic, Method, Sources, Plan, Writing, and Editing) and read it aloud to the other players.
  • If a player lands on a dark green “Oh no!!!” block, the information button will be opened by the facilitator and the student should read the message aloud to the other players. The player must then follow the instructions and move backward the indicated number of spaces. All players have two “Help” buttons that they can use at any point during game play when they land on an “Oh no!!!” block. The “Help” buttons provide five options to receive help. The player must choose which help option they want and why. Once this is done, the facilitator will click the checkmark and the player will regain a space on the board.
  • Players progress across the board toward the checkered flag. The first player to reach the checkered flag wins.

Special conditions:
  • If two or more players land on the same block, the pawns will be “stacked” and players will remain on the block together.
  • If a player ends up on a “Draw a card” or “Oh no!!!” block twice, they only need to follow the instructions the first time.
