Mr. Butterfly

Mr. Butterfly knew it was a Monday. People were all around his flowers. Rustling against his bush. They weren’t there yesterday. He hated it. But he knew they served a purpose. Without them, his flowers wouldn’t even be there. They grew his flowers. Still, they’re his flowers. No one else’s.

Mr. Butterfly was getting tired. The caterpillar yelled at him today. So Mr. Butterfly flew down to the caterpillar and said, “Caterpillar, you are so annoying.” Mr. Butterfly grabbed the caterpillar and flew high, way high up. He said to the caterpillar, “If you survive, don’t be so annoying.” He dropped the caterpillar and watched him fall. The caterpillar screamed, but once he went splat on the concrete, everything was fine again. The people didn’t even notice. Yes, Mr. Butterfly was tired.

Mr. Butterfly was watching someone. A big person. It was rummaging through his bush. Quite a ruckus. No more bugs there, but it kept looking. It was annoying Mr. Butterfly. So he flew up to the person and said, “Person, you are so annoying.” The person didn’t hear though. It looked up and made some sort of face. Mr. Butterfly assumed it was going to attack. Mr. Butterfly ran, because he knew it could not carry this person away.

Mr. Butterfly was talking with another butterfly. This one was blue. Mr. Butterfly said to the blue butterfly, “The people are trying to kill us. We will kill them.” The blue butterfly agreed. They schemed. More butterflies came. They joined. Lots of butterflies joined.

It was Monday again. But Mr. Butterfly had a plan this time. When the big person came to his bush, he called to the other butterflies. They came to the person. It made the face like last time, but more exagerrated. It seemed to be rearing up to kill them, so they killed it instead. There were hundreds of them. Mr. Butterfly commanded them, “Grab and carry. One, two, three, lift.” Mr. Butterfly did not yell, because he did not need to. Yelling made Mr. Butterfly so tired. The person tried to scream, but it couldn’t. There were butterflies in its mouth. Slowly, Mr. Butterfly led the butterflies into the air, along with the big person. He said to the person, “Person, you are so annoying. Please don’t survive.” He commanded the butterflies to drop it. The butterflies in its mouth left, and it could yell again. It yelled as it fell. It fell and fell and fell. And when it went splat, everything was quiet again. Everything was fine again.
