Now That's Scary

I can’t believe that my fourteen years of life have taken me here to this monster’s mansion. Besides the excess makeup, one would think Ms. Nesta was perfectly normal. Well, I was wrong about that. It’s taken a while, but I know all of that crazy lady’s secrets. Though, it’s the future that I need to know as I reach the all-knowing’s backyard on shaky legs. With my heart thundering in my chest, I think about what I learned in my karate phase. I take a meditating breath and prepare myself for the physical and mental battle.
In the backyard, I open the external basement door that I discovered on an earlier stakeout. I mean, I would never use the front door, seen too many movies. I slowly creep into the creepiest of dungeons. Spiders, a fluorescent green goo, and probably ghosts engulf me as I crawl down the stairs to my enemy. But I keep going. Why? I have to save my sister’s toes!
Just as I’m near the end of the stairs, I climb down, and a loud creak as annoying as an angry sister sounds from the step. If there was a chance that my nemesis didn’t know I was here, she definitely would know now. With no need to be in stealth mode anymore, I look at the vault I’m in. There are a few glossy pictures of children in the area pinned on the wall, a few croaking frogs on the floor, three dim hallways, and a crochet set. I guess everyone needs a hobby. Especially one that would mask taking off children’s toes to construct the formula for immortality.
A soft murmuring from the central hallway tells me which way to go next. Moving down the grimy hallway, I notice many rooms with other missing children in them. I try to let them out, but they act like babies expecting their mother to feed them. It seems like they know me and want to stay. I need to find my sister!
The farther I walk down the hall, the harder it becomes to see and the louder the chattering becomes. Soon, I feel the dust of a wood door beneath my fingers. With my ear up against the door, I can hear my little sister talking with the witch as if they were siblings. Feeling the steam rise off my body, I kick down the door with a boom.
I hear my sister shriek before I even look at my surroundings. I see her startled face and know that I must protect her. But the confusion turns from my sister to me when she squeals in delight that she didn’t know that she had two sisters. I shockingly look around the room to see who else is in the room, and I get a glimpse of the witch without her mask of makeup. I see my face.
           “Hey, twin.”
           Now that’s scary.
