5 - The Blue Ribbon
Just as all little kids have a doll or two, Junie did too. A couple of days before Christmas the previous year, Junie’s parents were strolling around in an antique store where they found the doll. The doll had long beautiful blonde hair, big blue eyes, and most importantly a silk bow that held her hair up into a ponytail. Junie’s parents were immediately drawn to the doll and just knew that Junie would love her. Christmas day had finally arrived and Junie was gifted the beautiful antique porcelain doll. Junie loved the doll more than anything and decided to name her Ruby. Junie brought Ruby everywhere. She brought her to school in the morning, to soccer practice after school, back to her room, and then to school in the morning again. After a year had passed, Christmas time came around again. Assuming that getting Junie another doll was a good idea, her parents took another trip to the antique store. That Christmas Junie received another doll almost identical to Junie but with a blue bow that tied her hair back. Junie obviously loved the doll more than anything and decided to name her Lucy. Lucy became the new spotlight. Junie began to bring Lucy to school, to practice, and back home again. During this time Ruby was shoved in the back of Junie’s closet to be passed on to her younger sister one day and forgotten about. One day, Junie left both the dolls back at the house. When Junie arrived home from practice that day she opened the door of the room to reveal something peculiar. The blue ribbon that had previously tied Lucy’s hair back into a ponytail, was cut up into shreds all over the floor. Ruby lying under the covers on the bed and Lucy not to be found. Junie, assuming that her younger sister had just borrowed Lucy to play with for the day, went to bed. Later that night, Junie was awaken from her sleep and immediately saw a shadow peering over her head. She was never to be found again.
