The Last of Us
The last four people on Earth were huddled in a small shack fighting for their lives. Their breathing became heavy and laborious. They couldn’t remember anything, just their name and their number, which had been assigned to them by the government after the most recent nuclear war. Numbers were easier to remember then names. Number 227 tried to remember his past life, his wife, his children, anything that would keep him still alive. But he could not remember anything, and Number 227 was gone. The other three watched him and said nothing, for they had witnessed terrible things, and another death meant nothing to them. Number 952 was next to go. His death was much less painful then 227’s. Number 952 had lost too much to care about death, and he was swiftly taken by Death. The next to leave Earth was Number 438. He was imprisoned for much of his life and felt no remorse for anything that he did. He was soon gone. The last person on Earth sat on the floor and waited. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
