The Shadow Over Trinity

Something awfully strange happened today at school. I’m not sure exactly what it was, but I think I should probably tell someone. Of course, I may have just been imagining things but I don’t think so. I don’t even know what it was. All I caught was a glimpse: it looked tall and gaunt, with skin sagging down even farther than Grandma’s, not to mention it was more deformed than the hunchback of Notre Dame. I just saw it going around a corner in the science building and when I followed, it was gone. I shouldn’t worry about it. Probably just a trick of the light.

I didn’t imagine it! I was talking with one of my friends at lunch today, and he said that he saw it too! I don’t know why I’m excited about this, considering that means I didn’t just imagine the freakiest being I’ve ever seen, but I am! My friend and I made an agreement that tomorrow, we would tell Mr. Short about this even if it made us seem crazy. Neither of us have any idea what it was, but it couldn’t have been good and maybe he has some idea of what it is. Best case scenario is that we both just had strikingly similar tricks of the eye, and the worst case scenario is that it’s just someone that’s not supposed to be on campus. It’ll probably be fine, but I think we’re both still a bit spooked.

There was a slight complication, but we did tell him. We forgot that today was an off-campus day, but we just ended up emailing him. He hasn’t replied yet, but I hope he does soon, because something is seriously wrong. I was in Math class earlier, and I swear I saw that thing pass outside my window. It was like a flash, but I distinctly saw the pale, sagging skin on its hunched back running past my room. I don’t know what’s going on, but it had better stop soon. Just writing this I’m getting chills and looking over my shoulder, scared to see that thing behind me.

Okay, I’m out of here. I don’t even care if anyone will drive me away, I’m getting away from this place. In today’s morning announcements, Mr. Short said that he had gotten our email and that he would investigate. But the worst thing was that he also said that he got another email from my friend’s mom saying that he wouldn’t be coming in today because of an “accident”. Not only that, but I saw it while I was sleeping. It was standing in the corner of my room just staring at me. I tried to scream but I couldn’t move a muscle. As I struggled against my own body, it slowly shuffled toward me, its gait lopsided, dragging one leg behind it. It got closer and closer and I saw its face; or rather, it’s lack thereof. Where its eyes should’ve been were simply small puncture marks and where its mouth should’ve been was just a scar, unmoving but still terrifying. I woke up and screamed, covered in sweat. No one even heard. I keep seeing it out the window but now, it’s not a flash. It stands maybe 70 feet away from the window, far enough that I could ignore it, but close enough that I can't. It’s there. Right there. Standing. Staring. NEVER BLINKING. NEVER MOVING. It’s running. Fast. Towards me. Couldn’t move, couldn’t think, couldn’t comprehend, couldn’t --
