Acceptable Use Policy for
Trinity Computer Networks

The Internet is a valuable research tool. While the broad range of information available is tremendous, some information is inappropriate for a school setting. Trinity Episcopal School takes precautions to restrict access to inappropriate materials and to monitor student use of computer networks. Unfortunately on a global network it is impossible to control all materials and a student may discover material that is not consistent with the educational goals of Trinity. Because we firmly believe that the value of the information and interaction available on the Internet far outweighs the possibility that students may procure inappropriate material, students are expected to read and abide by the following rules for computer use. Computers are to be used primarily for academic tasks. Students are not permitted to use computers to:
  1. Play games during school hours,
  2. Download programs without express permission,
  3. Buy or sell any type of product,
  4. Transmit or view pornography or any other information considered by TES faculty to be inappropriate in a school setting,
  5. Generate hate mail, harassment, discriminatory remarks, or fraud, or engage in other antisocial behaviors.
Depending on the severity, nature, or duration of the infraction students may face demerits, school disciplinary action through the student conduct committee, suspension or expulsion.
Parents or guardians will be notified of serious or repeated offenses.
